SFHSS
At M7, we’re passionate about elevating digital experiences for the public-sector. Our work enables greater impact and efficacy for government agencies serving the diverse communities around us. With our Local Business Enterprise (LBE) designation, we’re able to hit the ground running for a wide-array of San Francisco municipal organizations striving to make our city a better place.
The San Francisco Health Service System (SFHSS) engaged us to better serve its audience of employees and retirees of San Francisco City and County. While the initial project was modest, its success led to a multi-phase, multiyear contract to improve it’s online offerings. Today we continue to support SFHSS and it’s more than 126,000 members.

Health Benefits Calculator
One of our early and most complex challenges was the development of a health benefits cost-estimate calculator. Created for SFHSS members, it guides users through a friendly, step-by-step process to determine an individuals’ anticipated benefit costs upon retirement. The complex data and variables that once required long customer service phone calls to understand are now available in just a few self-service clicks.
Long-Term Service
Extending our partnership, SFHSS engaged M7 for an additional long-term contract. Leveraging our holistic recommendations, we tackled:
- Major visual and UX modifications
- Authenticated access to user-specific statements via SSO
- Secure document submission
- Two-field site search
- Health plan benefit comparison
- Crowdsourcing tool development
- Upgrade to Drupal 10
We’re also providing ongoing site maintenance and support.
Accessibility
Like most government agencies, SFHSS has a mandate to make its digital experience as accessible as possible. Serving an extremely diverse, multi-faceted audience, ADA 2.0 compliance was mandatory for every facet of our project work. Further, we integrated multilingual support for English, Chinese, Spanish, and Filipino languages.
City Approved
In San Francisco, we’re a designated LBE (Local Business Enterprise) making us eligible to respond to RFPs and matriculate through the city’s agency selection process. In addition to working with SFHSS, we’ve added the Mayor’s Council of Historical Cultural District’s and the (SF Women’s project - need name) to our roster. Additionally, we also have a physical office in Virginia, making regional or federal projects in the greater Richmond area within our purview.
